Nosferatu (2024)

i've been a Robert Eggers Enjoyer(TM) since before The Lighthouse came out, and in the time between then and now i've watched the original Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari and love German Expressionism as a whole. basically, I am slightly biased.

this was the first film i actually went to a cinema for in years. i don't love the experience since it's usually too loud and too full of people. i realised during covid that i find it way easier and more enjoyable to watch movies on my own, with headphones. but with this one i wasn't willing to wait for it to come to streaming or whatever. the batshit sound design hurt my ears, lowkey worth it anyway.

if a Caligari remake could get this kind of atmosphere, style and a great cast then that would literally be my dream movie (other than a version of The Dead Zone by Mike Flanagan)

The Penguin (2024)

The Batman (2022)

sooooo I'm two years late to the party on this one. AND I only watched it at all because i heard how amazing The Penguin HBO series was and wanted in on that. also because I found out Luke Roberts is in this movie, for like two scenes. i enjoyed it anyway so i guess it all works out.

wow I can see why Oz got a spin-off. best part by far. my favourite scene was the car chase and it's like not even close.

Nope (2022)

literally a masterpiece 10 out of 10 god tier. i am so mad at myself for sleeping on it for any amount of time, let alone two years.

Longlegs (2024)

honestly, the ad campaign was so good it left me just a little dissapointed with the thing it was actually advertising. i also didn't realise Nicolas Cage was in it until i saw his name in the opening credits and got unfortunate flashbacks to that shitty version of The Colour Out of Space he was in a few years ago.
